Guard & Elizabeth I Production
Production has started on our next two figures (woohoo), funded by our last Kickstarter campaign - Elizabeth I and The Guard!
We recently received the prototypes for Elizabeth I along with the snazzy new packaging we’ve been working on, and everything was looking pretty great. We’re going to bring out the colour on the inside of her cape slightly, to show off the cool dress shape more.
Prototypes are made of resin, and are much more delicate than our final figures, so our poor Guard prototype is currently in need of some glue but will hopefully be back in action soon.
Next steps
We’re expecting to review blank ‘dummy’ figures soon which the molds are then cast from. Our production partners basically explode our design into many tiny pieces depending on their final paint colour - this is to allow for really smooth airbrushing over most pieces before it’s then reassembled. Finer details are then stamped or hand-painted.
The molds take a fair bit of time to create, and then we make sure the figure from those looks perfect before creating the full line.
Boxes
As our boxes are custom, there’s always a bit of back and fourth to be done with the production team to get the design aligned properly and the colours looking perfect. The text on the front of our box prototypes wasn’t quite right, so we’ve been tediously tweaking the artwork. The new style is amazing though, with the drawer and thicker sides - we plan to use them going forward. We’re so excited to be adding more bright colours to our rainbow of characters.
But when will they be available?!
We’re on track to send out Kickstarter orders in March, and the figures will be added to the site later in the spring. Thanks again to everyone who supported the campaign!
